Not the drug: Glipizide does not cause elevated white or red blood cells. If your blood sugar is consistently low, see your doctor to see if you need to lower the dose.

WBC is often: Elevated in an inflammatory condition such as pancreatitis.  The HGB may just be reflective of dehydration.

Inflammation : Macrocytes are white blood cells too. Also depends how high they are. Very mild elevation like 10-13 for WBC and 400-450 for platelets could be lab variations too. If mild to moderate suggests inflammation which can be from infection, autoimmune disorders. If very high, blood disorders are a concern. Whomever ordered the test should follow up with u.

Absolutely yes: steroids can stimulate the bone marrow to produce more blood cells (all 3 lines of them) so you should not worry that this is something else.  Long term (&gt;2-3 weeks) steroids can do the reverse effect and suppress blood cell synthesis.  Thanks for trusting in HealthTap.

Well...: Myelocytes are immature white cells that do not belong in the blood stream but in the bone marrow.  Yes this could be a leukemia.
Talk to you Dr., and if you are able do not go alone, have a loved one next to you.
The test should repeated anyway, and should be examined by a pathologist

Need more info: Lab results without a clinical history and exam are very difficult to interpret.  Generally, however, elevated neutrophils with high WBC counts are seen in bacterial infection, but may also occur in patients on steroids, those with a variety of inflammatory conditions and so on.

Platelets are fine: Platelet counts fluctuate by 10000 to 20,000 if checked daily. So I would say your platelet count is normal. Nothing to worry about it. Actually we do not worry about them as long as they are between 100,000 to 400,000.

Can't tell. need w/u: Normal range will vary -depending on the range used on each lab. On my lab, hb of 18 is still normal for male. Your white blood cell and platelet are also within normal range. I don't see any problem there-except you said you have high neutrophils- which can be caused by many things. However, if you are worried about p.Vera- go to see a hematologist and she/he will be able to help you.
