Variable: The average 1yo is expected to get 5-7 respiratory viruses /yr and 2-3 diarrhea viruses/yr. These are often set apart buy periods of weeks of good health. A chronic on /off fever lasting days to weeks is usually a sign of a significant problem & needs a full evaluation and testing.

Life is not exact: Life is not exact. A person at home can measure his temperature in whole numbers. Thermometers are not exact. Human bodies are not exact. So, if one is wondering what to tell the doctor, just use whole numbers. Also, every person is different, so "recurrent fevers" can vary from time to time in one person, and vary among different people. There is no exact number. A couple of doctors can evaluate.

See ped: It appears that he has an infection or a drug reaction.  The recurring fever is also a part of malaria.

FUO: Possibly an entity named 'fever of unknown origin'; but this usually requires fevers continually for 6 weeks.  A missed abscess may present in this way as well.  Please have your doctor follow up on this!  hope all is well.

See a doctor ASAP: Your daughter appears to have a chronic febrile (fever) illness that has created anemia. In addition the elevated platelets suggest that the bone marrow is very active for an as-of-yet unidentified reason. She definitely needs a detailed evaluation by a pediatrician or an infectious diseases expert or both. Take her now. Good luck

Untreated strep?: See do tor for examination and throat culture to rule out strep infection which can cause fever and rash. Untreated this can lead to internal involvement.

Get tested for: Fungal infection (valley fever), tb, ricketssial infection, autoimmune condiion etc. Have blood cultures with each temperature spike. Hope they find a cause!

Pertussis?: A long illness like that suggests an infection like pertussis; it sounds like you are beyond the window period for when an antibiotic may be effective.  It lasts for about 6 weeks and resolves by itself with just supportive care.

Blood work? : Nothing sounds terribly worrisome but fever and night sweats could be a sign of systemic conditions such as lymphoma.   Given your age and history I'd more likely suspect hormone related and could be managed.   It's always a good idea to rule out the bad things with simple blood work.

whipple 8/15. severe upper left abd pain, recurrent fever (103), & acute pancreatitis in past 3 weeks. ct says multiple non dilated small bowel loops in abd & pelvis - says gastroenteritis. other possibilities? drs gave no answer for recurrent fever.

Fever: The intestinal loop pattern is nonspecific, in my opinion. I would be concerned about an intraabdominal abscess formation. I recommend that an abdominal surgeon be conducting your care with close collaboration of a gastroenterologist and a radiologist who can suggest other imaging studies likely to shed light on your case. An exploratory operation may be required,however if antibiotics don't help.
