Depends on cause: Recurrent pregnancy loss usually has an explanation. In a young women, problems with hormone support of the early pregnancy or with the uterus or endometrial lining are common. Chromosomal problems in the parents, or in early cell division can result in abnormal embryos. Occasional problems with the immune system can be a source.

This is a problem that requires care. An rei is appropriate.

Several reasons.: Every time one becomes pregnant there is a 20% chance of miscarriage.  Most of the time there is no underlying reason behind 3 miscarriages.  However we often do an investigation at this point.  Some causes are coagulation disorders and autoimmune disorders.  You should see  your gyn for a recurrent miscarraige work up.

Testing : There is a long serious of tests that should be done after 3 miscarriages. Anti phospholipid antibodies, thrombophilias, chromosome analysis, sonohystogram, platelet mapping and a cervical culture for ureaplasm.

i had miscarriage at 5.5 weeks then 3 x chemical pregnancy in succession of eachother. i have inherited thrombocytopenia & cvid.  are these linked?

Maybe: If your blood health (anemia, thrombocytopenia) is not optimal then pregnancies can be affected. Talk to your GYN MD about getting this problem thoroughly evaluated and if possible, corrected before re-attempting pregnancy.

Embryos: 98% of same are going to be genetic, in the embryos. If 47 years is your actual correct age these are almost certainly egg-related problems. I am sorry for the disappointment, good luck.

Same: Essentially the same - a chemical pregnancy is just a very early miscarriage.

See your doctor: Oftentimes, the reason for early miscarriage is unknown. See your doctor. They may be able to determine a cause for your miscarriages and offer treatment. There can be certain diseases, like diabetes , and thyroid dysfunction, that can increase the risk of miscarriage.

Miscarriage ?'s: Early pregnancies with a positive test which end w/o progressing may occur from hormonal or anatomic abnormalities.  Obtain a pelvic ultrasound and a hysterosalpingogram (HSG) and if normal, get a referral to a reproductive endocrinologist.

Depends : The simple answer is that the older you get the more increase risk you get for having a miscarriage there are no real percentages. In addition the older you get the more increase risk do you have for birth defects

Pregnancy method?: If the pregnancy was performed by IVF or Intrauterine insemination then it is usually clear cut as to the pregnancy status if the MD is doing the testing. If the "chemical pregnancy" was diagnosed without testing, that would be my first question as to whether there really was a "pregnancy".
