Definitely,,,: Bleeding from the rectum that recurs may indicate hemorrhoids, anal fissures, proctitis (due to infection, inflammatory bowel disease, radiation therapy, stercoral ulcers, rectal prolapse, trauma, etc.) or bleeding source further upstream.The bumps may be a separate issue. Depending on your age, risk factors, current medication (aspirin, nsaid's, anticoagulants can cause bleeding), get evaluated.

Anal bleeding: Check for hemmorhoids. Do you have constipation? That can cause  hemorrhiods due to  excessive straining during BM .Avoid hemorrhoids  by drinking about 2-3 liters/ day water /gatorade, juices ,milk and eating fiber lke a cup of oats, lentils,barley brown rice /day  Also consider diverticular bleeding which is rare at 17 , polyps or inflammatory bowel disease

Yes: Bleeding from the rectum should always be followed up and you should ask your doctor what the next best step is.  It may be something as simple as a hemorrhoid, but your doctor will want to make sure it isn't anything worse.

Hemorrhoids: Are likely the cause here.Avoid straining and pushing during a bowel movem.Take a stool softener and drink a lot of fluids if you are constipated. Bleeding should never be taken lightly. I would recommend making an appt with your family doc and possible referral to a GI doc for a detailed exam and rule out other serious causes. If bleeding is heavy or if you feel light headed you need to go to er.

Rectal bleeding: Rectal bleeding associated with large hard stools is usually due to hemorrhoids or sometimes anal fissures. Have your physician do a rectal exam to get more information. In the mean time start using a stool softener.

See below: Hemorrhoids are a chronic problem. They do get worse with time and sometimes will require treatments with banding, infrared coagulation or even surgery in extreme cases. If you are being symptomatic for that long, you should get it examined by specialist.

Maybe: Slight bleeding could be from hemorrhoids or other anal condition. Cirrhosis can cause abnormally enlarged veins to occur in the gastrointestinal tract that could bleed. Best not to wonder &amp; best is to contact your own surgeon who performed the surgery to get proper information for your own specific situation &amp; conditions.
