10-28 days: After a laparscopic appendix removal the patient may resume lifting and exercise in 10 days, in most cases.  With an open approach the recovery would be more like 3-4 weeks.  Other factors can be influential, and your surgeon will make it quite clear when you may resume your activities.  Good luck.

Check for pregnancy: Since you have not had a period for 2 months after your appendectomy, you should check a pregnancy test, perhaps in your doctor's office. If the test is negative, it may be normal to miss a period or two. When the body undergoes stress such as surgery, the hormones that control periods are disrupted. It is likely that things will return to normal fairly quickly.

Not unheard of: It may not be normal, but stress of surgery can alter the normal hormonal balance in the body and throw off your normal menstrual cycle.  If you have more than 1 month of irregularity, however, you may be best suited to check in with a gynecologist.

Not normal: Its not normal to have a period for 12 days straight.  However, the stress of surgery can sometimes keep you from ovulating and this can make you skip periods and/or have a heavy period or two.  If it is a persistent problem and doesn't correct itself, you should see your Ob/Gyn.  Best wishes!

Yes: Surgery can definitely affect ones menstrual cycle. Not to worry.  If you are sexually active you may want to take a home pregnancy test just to be sure.

i am experiencing bloody discharge from my vagina after an appendectomy. i also had my period during and after the surgery. should i seek help?

Yes: Yes seek help ASAP. Did you at any point get a pregnancy test. Please see your MD ASAP, go to the ER if the tempo of the bleeding is fast or has been occurring for a long time. If slow and not a lot of blood, see OB in the office. Also contact your surgeon ASAP, call the on call answering service. Stay calm you will be okay. Good luck.
