Normal diet: You should eat a normal diet.  Your body is trying to recover and it needs all the building blocks it can get.  You won't relapse into mono.  However, your immune system is weak and you may be susceptible to other infections if you are slow to recover.

Forever: The virus may stay in the body forever as do some other viruses like the chickenpox virus. Most of those infected with the virus will actively shed the germ in saliva for 3-4 weeks while a few do for 3 months. Some will occasionally transiently shed the virus in saliva on and off for many years.Symptoms rarely remain after the first 3 wk-3m period.Chronic fatigue is not caused by mono. (cdc).

Usually: Mono is a systemic infection usually by the EB virus. In childhood it is often indistinguishable from common brief viruses. In adults it usually produces 3 wks of body wide effects. Glandular swelling, discomfort, swelling of the spleen &amp; liver inflammation are common. Some have headaches &amp; other evidence of nervous system involvement. A few will have lingering symptoms for 3 months.

A body temp of 96.2: is in the normal range, even taking into account the different ways of measuring body temperature.  While mononucleosis is a viral infection that often causes fever, it isn't always the case.  During the recovery period, usually the fever dissipates. May be life long: Mono is not a specific infection and similar symptoms can occur with more than one virus. EBV is the usual cause and once a person is infected, the virus stays in the body for the rest of the life and antibodies to EBV can be detected for years after the initial infection. The so call mono-spot test may become negative in a few months after infection.

Itching: You can take an antihistamine like allergra, claritin, xyrtec or benadryl (diphenhydramine).

Unlikely: A pink, measles-like rash can occur and is more likely if one takes the medicines Ampicillin or Amoxicillin for a throat infection.  This occurs usually when one is actively infected with the virus (ebv). 3 months is a long time and so most likely unrelated. Best thing to do is to have it checked.
