what do i do if i am having really painful headaches?

Be seen: Make an appointment with your doctor. Really painful headaches can be helped with a good history and physical to determine triggers and root cause. Acupuncture, chinese medicine, homeopathy, chiropractic can all be very helpful in improving headaches. You do not have to live with them! there is a cause so begin looking for it! important to make sure you are not at risk for stroke from them.

GP: Chronic headaches can be part of a migraine problem, sinus problems, any infections inside the body, or even serious problems like meningitis or other brain disease. It all depends on your doctors examination and further testing. Sometimes if headaches are difficult to control you can book with a Neurologist but that is not advisable unless you’ve seen your GP first

Headaches: These symptoms are common to a host of problems. Hypoglycemia comes to mind. In adults one can get "reactive hypoglycemia" 1-2 hrs after eating. This is due to an over flow of insulin. Especially seen in thin women who drink lots of caffeine or fruit juices.

You may have carious lesions that are trapping food and causing your discomfort, and if these lesions are deep, you may have a dental abscess. A severe headache, recurrent headache, weird headache, or one with other worrisome symptoms should be checked by a doctor.

Need more info but:: All headaches are painful (some more than others) and headaches are very common, so it's not clear what you are asking or why. 
Most people take an OTC pain medicine like ibuprofen (Advil) and usually after a good nite's sleep it is gone. If the headache is really severe or persists more than a day or 2 it might be wise to see a doctor.

Medical check up: Persistent headaches require medical check up.
You should go see a doctor, either your PCP or go to an ER. A neurologist can check you to find the cause and provide pain medication. It might even be a Migraine headache which requires a headache specialist to treat you properly.
