my recent blood smear showed slight "polychromasia"; cbc is normal except: low granulocytes & high lymphocytes. (last 2 years showed: poikilocytosis & mild neutropenia). not anemic. possible causes of this polychromasia? should this be checked into?

Any symptoms?: Why was the test done? All laboratory results need to be interpreted in the clinical context and the doctor who ordered the tests is usually in the best position to do that. Talk to the doctor who ordered the tests. Having said that, nothing in the information you provided warrants any concern.
Wish you good health! - Have a diet rich in fresh vegetables, fruits, whole grains, milk and milk products, nuts, beans, legumes, lentils and small amounts of lean meats. Avoid saturated fats. Drink enough water daily, so that your urine is mostly colorless. Exercise at least 150 minutes/week and increase the intensity of exercise gradually. Do not use tobacco, alcohol, weed or street drugs in any form. 
Practice safe sex, if you have sex.

Depends: If hemoglobin level is normal, it does not mean anything. Some hemoglobin variants produce oval rather than perfectly round red cells and then it depends on the type of hemoglobin variant. A few ovalocytes are of no consequence.

Polychromasia is the heterogeneous staining of RBCs of different ages, with younger cells appearing blue, that occurs after haemorrhage, haemolysis, dyserythropoiesis and treatment with haematinics such as iron and vitamin B12.
Schistocytes are RBCs fragmented by their passage through intravascular strands of fibrin, found in cases of intravascular haemolysis, renal failure and thrombotic thrombocytopenic purpura amongst others.

Cbc with diff: The CBC with diff cannot diagnose a pt per se.  You need to know what types of symptoms a pt is having in order to investigate based on symptoms.

To help visualize them on a blood smear under the microscope, sometimes special stains are used to help them become more visible.

It's a good thing!: Blasts are immature blood cells.  They normally grow and mature in the marrow and then the more adult cells are extruded into the blood stream to perform their function. So, not seeing them in the blood film is a good sign we look for when evaluating someone with a blood disorder.
