: Uncommon to get an isolated patch of Zoster on an elbow, especially at age 24. Many, many other more likely possibilities. If it persists and is really annoying, see your doctor

Get checked up: Shingles causes a painful rash which may appear as a stripe of blisters on the trunk of the body. It is possible for pain to persist even after the rash is gone. This is called postherpetic neuralgia. But more of a history and exam are needed. A full work up with blood tests is a good idea. I suggest going to a clinic to get examined.

See doctor: Is the rash only on one side of the body? If yes, it is likely to be shingles. If it is present on both sides of the midline then it is not shingles. It would be useful to see your doctor, especially if it is shingles so the preventive steps may be taken to prevent persistent pain.

Shingles: One-sided, severe, burning/stinging/aching pain with an associated rash is shingles until proven otherwise. See your Family Doc to start meds: Valtrex, pain medication, and sometimes steroids. Hopefully, the process can be managed and aborted. The worst-case scenario could involve months of pain that need to be managed with next-level medications.

Chickenpox: Shingles usually follows the distribution of one dermatome.  Shingles can cause fairly dramatic pain which is followed within a few days by a rash. It usually appears in a particular location on one side of the body. The rash burns intensely, itches &amp; is made up blisters that open up &amp; crust over.  A person could also have a fever, chills, headache and  generalized aches &amp; pains with fatigue.
