Fevers, rash, joint pain and swelling sound like a systemic inflammatory condition such as juvenile rheumatoid arthritis. However other things such as certain infections, allergies or exposures can cause these problems. Please be sure this child sees a physician right now to explore the history, exam and do right diagnostic studies.

Nickel is a metal that some people have a reaction to (irritant contact dermatitis) when there is prolonged contact.  The reaction takes place at the site of contact, and is usually a red rash sometimes with cracked skin, rather than hives.

Sounds like hives: Which can be triggered by allergies, & stress. Sometimes an antihistamine like benadryl, (diphenhydramine) claritin, allegra, or zyrtec can help, as well as avoiding any triggers. Sometimes it can be associated w celiac disease and/or wheat allergy. Nickel can be another trigger. If it worsens please see your doctor.

Not so fast: Your rash and the ingestion of chicken may have been coincidental.  See an allergist to get skin tested.  Chicken allergy is rare and i bet there is something else going on.
