can zantac (ranitidine) cause pale stool?

Ranitidine : ranitidine is not reported to cause pale stools. I would not worry about it unless you are noticing other symptoms along with it. If you develop yellowing of the skin or eyes, you should report it to your physician, although this is a very rare side effect. Good luck.

Hello. : Hello. Although the answer could be something as simple as your GI mucosa becoming inflammed  & friable from the diarrhea, we usually recommend not assuming the cause of bleeding when it comes to  bleeding from the rectum. If your stool is black, sticky and stinks that could be a sign of bleeding as well (and should be seen expeditiously). I  would not panic, but i would make an appointment with your family doctor to have this evaluated.

No worries: If you are eating ok, don't worry. Drink lot of water. Bleeding in the stomach causes diarrhea not constipation . Not sure why stool is orange unless ur bathroom light is yellow. With gastritis u get black or red stools  if it is severe. Eat light frequent meals. Avoid tobacco alcohol caffeine and meds like ibuprofen,Advil etc. Skip a meal if you want. Over eatin is also not good for few days.

my 4yr old son has been having stools that smell like mothballs? i notice it more when he did not stool the previous day. he is on vitamin and zantac (ranitidine)

? ulcers/constipatio: It is neccesary to see the gi. You regular physcian can consider advising you to eat frequent small meals, avoid alchol and cigarrets, nsaids . Eat high fiber diet, avoid dry food and may consider stool softhers and a protein pump inhibitor. Good  luck.

See doctor: Need evaluation for bleeding and possible complications from gallstones such as pancreatitis or common bile duct stone.  See gastroenterologist, general surgeon or your primary doctor.

LIkely more thanGERD: You're describing predominantly lower GI complaints, and have not indicated what response you've shown to zantac (ranitidine). Formal evaluation with some simple testing may allay your concern and direct treatment.

my 2 week baby had a stool analysis with +1 undigested sugars; doctor said breastfeed no dairy prod and gave us cisapride and ranitidine, is it ok?

Not sure. : Usually cisapride is given for reflux and ranitidine is used for hyper acidity causing  severe episodes of crying and may be used concurrently if a mixture of symptoms are present. But u have mentioned only a stool test which tells us only about 1+ sugar. So the history is incomplete about making a judgment.

baby has mucus in stool. taking ranitidine and only drinks breast milk. no solids or formula. could this be from ranitidine? should he see a doctor?

Need more info: Need more info such as age of infant.  Mucus in stool can be due to many different things including infection.  Follow up with doctor for definitive exam, diagnosis and treatment.

Grey stool: Due to insufficient bile.May signify a condition (biliary obstruction) where the flow of bile to the intestine is obstructed from a tumor or stone.Please see your doctor asap to run tests and make a diagnosis.
