OT: Range of motion exercises are usually restricted to the upper extremity joints including the shoulder, elbow, wrist and fingers. They typically involve isotonic exercises with theraband of varying resistances and through a range of active range of motion.

i have shoulder pain that feels better when i exercise but the range of motion is limited. what could it be and should i stop excersing.

Gentle exercise OK: Maintenance of range of motion is always a laudible goal as long as your pain is not made appreciably worse. Orthopaedic surgeon evaluatin will efficiently elucidate the underlying pathology. More common possibilities include: adhesive capsulitis, subacromial impingement (bursitis), a partial thickness rotator cuff tear, and/or underlying mild to moderate shoulder joint arthritis.

bicep pain for 8 mos from the day of my last covid shot. pt thinks it's related. not improving. my range of motion and activities are limited by pain. i've been in pt for 2 mos but not improving. using heat&ice before/after exercises. next steps?

: Ask for proper  history and diagnostic exam. Tender over biceps tendon. Doing work such as shoveling before this started. Was shot in same arm or other arm?

which exercises increase the range of motion after bilateral knee replacement?

ROM exercises: Common range of motion (rom) exercises are heel slides, cycling, and wall slides.  These are started early in physical therapy.  More vigorous rom exercises would be things like stair lunges.  Most importantly, you should consult with a licensed physical therapist for a full evaluation to address your specific rom limitations and they will prescribe appropriate exercises for your particular case.

i have a loose ac joint injury (minor).  what are some weight lifting exercises i can do to strengthen that area. i have full range of motion and use?

Strengthen muscles: You want to strengthen the surrounding agonist and antagonist muscles that are intimately involved with the ac joint: these would include but not restricted to the trapezius, deltoid, pectoralis major and scapular thoracic muscles including the levator scapula, rhomboids and serratus.

: 5/5 is not usually used for range of motion but used for strength documentation on an examination of a patient. 5/5 means the strength is normal. Whereas 4/5 would mean 80% of normal strength.

: A normal range of motion indicates a healthy joint and muscles. You did not state why the range of motion was limited? What was the treatment? Is the range of motion with the normal range or excessive range?

Muscle strain: The cause of a soft tissue injury or pain coming from an injured nerve will often not show up on a plain xray. Multiple syndromes of soft tissue injury are possible, especially if there is a history of rotator cuff injury in past. Nerve impingement syndromes also may explain this type of pain. It may be possible to narrow down the cause with a detailed physical exam. See your doctor if it persists.

when trying to make sure i have full range of motion in my neck, do i measure to the point i can move it, or to where it starts to hurt?

It depends: For your therapy where it starts to hurt would be most convenient.  Then you could also measure the extent of movement so that would be your goal to attain from your therapy
