im not sure what to do? whether to worry or not?

: Do you have migraines that this is an aura? Did you have any blows to the head that could have a detached retina? Hard to see but I would see an optometrist or ophthalmologist.

3-4 years: Between 3-4 years old is the traditional age. However, you can certainly challenge your child at a younger age. They very often surpise us.

Accepted Answer

Depends: If they have been blind since birth, there is no satisfying way.  You can discuss it in terms of tones of music and indicate that each note is like a different color. This is an analogy that will give some idea of the differences in colors.

: Consult your OB physician for a type of prenatal vitamin he/she prefers.  If you are currently pregnant, and have not seen an OB physician, ask your primary care physician for a referral to one.  There are several important early pregnancy tests which should be done to support a healthy pregnancy.

Rainbow/halos: Could be due to ocular migraine, which is without head pain, but can have these types of vision sympmtoms. Or due to improper glasses prescription, especially if you have astigmatism. See your eye care professional soon.

Get examined: This could be a symptom of many different things, the most common probably dry eye or cataract or uncorrected astigmatism.

Accepted Answer

Yes - normal: Uncorrected astigmatism will cause the strips and rainbow phenomenon .   Other causes of this are rare at your age.  Should disappear with proper eyeglasses.

Yes: At one week this is very normal.  Generally goes away over weeks, sooner in lower prescriptions and when treated for nearsightedness.

Ophthalmologist: Cataracts or glaucoma would be unusual in your age bracket, but if visual symptoms continue an examination by an ophthalmologist would be advisable and would give you peace of mind.
