Kids point to named : Colors before they name colors. The average is 3 colors, 3 shapes, & 3 #'s at 3; 4 of each at 4. Multimodal teaching, e.g., seeing & signing the colors with mom while watching pbs' signing time, hearing the colors mom points to while reading books & coloring with crayons (tactile) can speed up the process of learning colors, shapes & numbers. Magnatiles are expensive, but great for learning.
