Cyst: This could be a bartholin's gland cyst and could be infected. You should see a provider to evaluate this.

Probably not herpes: Herpes doesn't cause things like this. Herpes lesions are superficial -- blisters, pimples, and sores that are sort of like "on" the skin. Boils, typical acne, etc well up from below; think of them as starting "in" the skin. This isn't a hard and fast rule, but a single large boil is never herpes. But see a doctor if you remain concerned and/or at risk for STDs. Good luck!

Lump: Is this lump at the opening of your vagina? Could be a bartholin cyst. Easiest thing to do it to have your gym look at it and open it in the office. If this is not feasible, try soaking in the tub and see if you can massage it open.

This : This could be a cyst, enlarged lymph node, wart, or even herpetic lesion. There is no way to say without examining you. Schedule a visit with your primary care provider or gynecologist for an examination and treatment as deemed necessary.

Not necessarily.: Lumps in and around the vagina can be caused by many things, including but not limited to tumors, abscesses, lymph nodes, endometriosis, cervical masses, ectopic pregnancies, etc. I would strongly recommend seeing your gynecologist to have it looked at.

i was feeling in my vagina with my finger and i felt a quarter sized hard lump. it was pretty deep in and on the top (like closer to my head than my feet if that makes sense). im 18 and have never been to an obgyn. should i see one about this?

Vaginal lump: If you were lying on your back and If your finger reached very high in the vagina, you may have felt the cervix which is quite firm. Another possibility is feeling a firm piece of stool in your rectum through the back wall of the vagina. If you still have concerns, see a gynecologist for an examination. This will give you peace of mind.

Cyst: If its at the entrance to the vagina, it could be a bartholin's cyst. Those usually need a doctor to drain them.   They can grow quite large.

Don't panic: This might be as simple as an inclusion cyst or a small lymph node.  Without actually examing the area or without a better description, then it is hard to guess.  The best option is to schedule a visit with your doctor and have them take a look!
