Too much pressure: On them. If you want to continue doing push ups I suggest you use devices to help I.e. " the perfect push up" the device will help you put less strain on the wrist,

Wrist sprain: Possibly overused the muscles around the wrist joint.  Can use a pharmacy wrist splint and take some Tylenol or ibuprofen as directed on bottle label.
Go easy on it for a few days..  Call in for virtual visit if desired.

Weighlifter's wrist: It is most likely scaphoid impaction syndrome, which is a condition where there are wrist bones and covering called the capsule that gets impingement when the wrist is bent upward with force as you describe.  It can respond to physical therapy in most case or simply strapping the wrist for support. If that does not work seek a sports medicine consultation.

Suggest you have your doctor evaluate, and if cause not clear, get hand consultation.  For time being avoid repetitive wrist flexion/extension activities, and use wrist splint at night.

Pulled  muscle, tend: This  may be a pulled  muscle, tendon or the joint. You can use heat to the area. During the first  36  hours you would be able to use  ice but after that  use heat..  You can also get a wrist splint and use that. If it does not improve  you need to see your physician.

Maybe: May be lateral epicondylitis ( tennis elbow). Should respond to eccentric stretches.  May take some time to get better (4-6 Weeks)

XRay: You need an xray and evaluation to know for sure. Treatment would depend on cause. Multiple possibilities including ligament tears and even previously undetected fracture of carpal bone such as the scaphoid.
