rash purpura with petechiae, what are the causes?

Various causes.: Outputs is bruising.  Petechiae or tiny areas of bleeding into the skin.  This can occur with low or dysfunctional platelets or other bleeding problems.  It can also happen with inflamed blood vessels (vasculitis).  There are many potential causes such as drug allergy, use of anticoagulants, and various blood diseases, but it is not normal.  Discuss with your doctor.

sometimes i get purpura or petechiae on my chin around a 15 y/o scar. i don't injure the area. why would this happen? i've heard it can be serious.

Not serious: Localized lesions like this are due to local factors such as rubbing, pinching, etc.

The tingling: Is hard to sort out. That said purpura, petechiae and thrush are all worrisome blood cell problem. Get this checked out.

Psoriasis Flare: There are a number of medications that can exacerbate psoriasis: lithium, beta blockers, corticosteroids, antimalarials, alcohol, nsaids, ace inhibitors, gold salts and interferon.

Evaluation: If petechiae getting worse you should see your doctor to be evaluated and may have CT of head to find the cause so be treated.

can the petichiae of haemophilus meningitis  vs henoch-schonlein-purpura be distinguished clinically?

Yes and no: No clinician would take chances. The history and symptoms would tilt the balance either way. Most patients end up having a lumbar puncture if there is any clinical suspicion for meningitis. Remember that rashes may be in different stages and that will make impossible to differentiate.

Platelet dysfunction: Has your child experienced frequent nose bleed, rectal bleeding, or gum bleeding?  Platelet dysfunction could be the culprit.  Hematologist would be the right specialist to see.

Keep looking.: Purpura is the result of blood leakage into the skin. It may represent a relatively benign condition or herald the presence of a significant underlying disorder such as low platelet levels, coagulation factor deficiencies, or a vascular defect. Testing should be continued until the cause is found, particularly if fever is also involved.

Sign of bleeding: Petechiae result from bleeding from small vessels which result either from a blood disorder, most commonly low platelet count, or a disorder of the blood vessels. You should be evaluated by a physician and have a complete blood count performed to exclude a serious condition
