Different options: The groin has a lot of things in it both in the skin and below it.  Sweat glands, hair follicles and skin cysts as well as lymph nodes, fatty tissue, vessels, tendons and other things.  Is the lump growing, inflamed, painful, painless, draining, recurrent or constant, moveable or fixed...?  Each of these (and many more) will provide your doc the answers as to what it is and what needs to be done.

i have a purple lump near my groin. i did squeeze it but onky blood came out at first. my skin does cover it could it be to do with being hot or moist?

Lump: It sounds like this is a lymph node or an abscess formation. I would have a physician evaluate this. I do not recommend poping this as this can cause a potential infection, and potentially cellulitis. If it is an abscess, usually a hot towel to the skin can promote it to drain on its own.

Boil?: This may be a localized infection, but without seeing it nobody can be sure. Get to a doctor and have this examined, diagnosed and treated appropriately. Good luck and best wishes.

Hard to say: Could be a lymph node, cyst, infection . Without a visual exam in person it would be difficult to give an accurate diagnosis. See your doctor as soon as possible. Good luck

bilateral open inguinal hernia repair 7 days ago. now have a small semi hard lump attached to the top of my right testicle that pushes out  into the skin of my scrotum. non tender. lots of swelling and purple bruising to the right side of scrotum. ?

Ice!: This may represent a hematoma (collection of blood gravity has pulled down into the scrotum), or a seroma—just a collection of tissue fluid following the ‘trauma” of surgery. I’d recommend wearing an athletic supporter and, when relaxing, using ice packs (a bag of frozen peas or a bag of niblets corn work great) two or three times daily for 15 minutes to reduce swelling. Speedy recovery!

Skin lump: You'll need to see a doctor in person to get a diagnosis of this little lump, and to decide what to do for it. Maybe it'll go away on its own, but it might need to be removed in the office. For now, try some warm soaks, 20 minutes twice a day. If it gets larger, hurts, or turns red, see someone right away.

Monitoring Centers: Lymphatic system absorbs/carries things too big to go into the arteries/veins like bacteria eaten by white cells and digested food. Lymph nodes "taste" the lymph for anything bad  like bacteria/viruses/cancers, etc. When it detects a problem, it alerts the immune system and your body reacts.  They enlarge in response to the inflammation they create when they react.  They shrink when all is well.

Infection, lymphoma,: A painful lump in the groin can be an enlarged lymph node. If this is the case, it can be due to an infection in the genitalia ( std, scratch, etc) , cancer of the genitalia, a lymphoma blood born ca). It could be an inguinal hernia. The best recommendation is to see your physician for evaluation.

Bruises: would be most likely explanation, but if absolutely no trauma or injury to this area (even riding a bike or a carnival ride with a "hard" landing) then you should be seen to get an answer.  GOod luck!
