Painful=infection: it may have started a an obstructed pore/follicle now infected...skin discoloration and painful lesion may be indicative of MRSA cellulitis/abscess formation...get seen by doctor the may decide to open it drain it and culture the discharge to identify the bacteria...good luck

Lymph node: What you described fits in to be a lymph node. Tenderness usually means infection in the area the node is draining from , ear, scalp, pharynx etc color change is worrisome. Plz see your GP to get further advice. Good luck.

Cyst: There are small oil glands inside the ear lobe. If their drainage point is blocked the fluid will keep filling the sac and cause a lump. Sometimes over time and with massage the cyst will drain. If it's not red massage the area gently several times a day to see if that changes thing. As with any weird lump/bump a real exam by MD is usually the best way to get the right diagnosis.
