You got it: This is a very normal phenomenon described many years ago.  Take a look at http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Entoptic_phenomenon for other things you might be seeing or can see.  You don't need to worry as I bet this describes it well.

Depends . . .: Where you live affects what allergens are prevalent during any given season. At the risk of schilling for big pharma (which i'm not), check out this link to a MAP of states that gives you some idea of what allergens tend to dominate where (http://www.Clarinex.Net/application/allergyinfo.Action?Link=geography). I tried to look for non-commercial maps but couldn't find any. Sorry!

Accepted Answer

Yes.: Many things, like throat infections/viral infections can cause laryngitis.  It takes time to recover the voice, like 1+ weeks, and it recovers usually when the illness subsides/resolves.  Allergies to things like tree pollen, can cause inlammation, and swelling of areas like the throat and be responsible for at least short term laryngitis.

Yes but rarely.: It is very rare. Did you loose conciousness, or feel dizzy or nauseous? If not then you didn't have a concussion.

Tea tree oil: tea tree oil is toxic if ingested orally. If it has been swallowed, you should contact your local poison control center at 1-800-222-1222 immediately. It can also cause irritation with topical exposure also.

Very possibly: Pine nuts are a type of tree nut and contain many of the same proteins as other tree nuts.  It is very likely that you could have a problem with pine nuts if you have allergy to other tree nuts.

Your : Your son should see a neurologist who will order an eeg (brain wave) with photic stimulation. It may be a seizural event. Children with petit mal or absence seizure are often set off by this type of flickering light. A few years ago there was an outbreak of seizure activity among children in japan who were watching a particular cartoon with flashing lights. Occasionally people with migraine headaches are light sensitive.
By challenging him with the light while recording brain activity, the neurologist will be able to see whether this is a seizure tendency or not. Petit mal (absence) seizures are not accompanied by falling down and shaking. The person having them looks like he's daydreaming and will blink rapidly. These spell can last a few seconds and then end suddenly. They are often 'outgrown'. There is medication that will help.

Contact allergy: A number of oils can cause skin irritation upon contact. If you know the ingredient, i would avoid it from now on.
