Back&amp;hand Pain: Pain that radiates from upper back to hand indicates a need to see your doctor.  You mention pulling a muscle while exercising.  That MAY be the case or it may be from a pinched nerve.  Your doc will tell you and help you.  Catch it now so it does not become chronic.  Peace and good health.

i have symptoms in every muscle. had an emg done that showed increased insertional activity only in tricep. then had muscle biopsy done that showed abnormal neurogenic changes. now neurologist wants to do a more extensive emg. does that make sense?

: You would probably be best served by having any further testing done after being evaluated by a specialist in neuromuscular disorders at a university hospital department of neurology.

muscle biopsy of right tricep show chronic denervation and reinnervation with small angular muscle fibers scattered and regions grouped atrophy. same symptoms in every muscle. doctor cant give a diagnosis. why cant he? what other test can i do?

: Get a referral to a neurologist, who assess the meaning of "chronic denervation".  An EMG may also be useful.

i accidentally said yes to pregnancy. this is actually my mother's symptoms and she requested that i ask for her. she's 65 years old and my beneficiary. the right shoulder aches so much that she can't sleep. from the deltoid to the triceps muscles?

Frozen: Sounds like she has a frozen shoulder. Best to consult her GP to prescribe adequate analgesia, physiotherapy and to see if further investigation is warranted.

recently my upper arms have been experiencing soreness that seems to rotate through the muscle at the upper end of my forearms, my shoulders, biceps, and triceps.  one arm is worse than the other, but both are now showing symptoms.  what course of action should i take?

Strain/injury: Pain on movement can typically be traced back to a strain or minor muscle injury. Avoid positions that make the pain worse. Do not do any lifting or pulling with that arm. Wear a sling for comfort. Take NSAIDS for antiinflammatory effect. Rest the area so healing can occur. Use alternating hot and cold packs to alleviate the pain. Talk to a Dr if the pain does not resolve in 2 weeks time.

Many will: Pushup, dips, press downs, french press ... really any exercise where you extend your arm out - as in "press" your hand out - will engage the triceps.  Even planks will do so, much less so if you "lock" your arms out - as at that point much of the stress going into the elbow joint(aka bad) rather than the surrounding muscles.

how can you heal a torn tricep muscle?

Depends where torn: A torn triceps at the attachment of the muscle to bone (the tendon) needs to be re-attached through surgery. If the muscle is torn in the body of the muscle then surgery is less successful. Typically the torn muscle will scar down  and after it heals you can do rehab and physical therapy. There is nothing you can do to accelerate the healing other than rest the muscle and do not overuse it.

No: No, it's not from hitting your head. Pain localized to the muscle that hurts with certain activities is truly arising from the muscle itself. It could be a muscle strain, tendonitis, or a muscle simply not used to certain workout activities.

Alternating motions: Always work biceps and triceps on the same day alternating. I would recommend including the shoulder since this links to the arms. Do triceps extensions and dumbbell curls. Make sure to do a thorough warm up so you don't hurt your rotator cuff or other joints.
