Strained Oblique: If this discomfort is above the crest of your pelvis it could be that you have strained your oblique muscle, which should be self-limited.  However, if this is accompanied by any systemic symptoms (abdominal pain, fever, chills for example) you might have a problem internally and should seek help from a family or emergency physician.

Other symptoms?: A pulled muscle is very possible?  How long does it last ?  Have you tried any meds?  Nausea? Fevers? Diarrhea?  Would you say it is more related to food or activity? Causes include muscle strain, appy (less likely), herniae, colitises, enteritises, ibs, constipation.  You should see your md for a complete history and physical exam.  They may want to do studies as well.  Fell better

Hard to say: True hip pain is localized to the groin.  In this area it is either your hip itself or could have a hernia.  Other causes would be a pull or strain to one of your hip flexors. If it responds to rest and ice it is likely muscular and should improve.  If pain persists you may want to have it evaluated.

Could be muscle.: It could be muscle strain of the iliopsoas muscle, or it can be more serious, such as damage to the labrum of the hip.

It could be but also: It could be a  muscle pull but there are  other structures  there including the lower  ribs that  could be injured. You will need  to discuss this  with your physician.

Exam needed: Time to have your hip examined. Best to start with your doc for a detailed history and focused exam. Based on findings, further tests or a referral may be needed. Whenever symptoms tend to worsen in time instead of getting better it will be cautious to start work up early.

Go to ER: The fact that u r panic stricken would suggest that u shd visit an emergency room so that u can be thoroughly examined and get some tests, if necessary. Without examination it would be impossible to advise. Once a serious illness is ruled out u shd see ur doctor to overcome ur anxiety disorder with medications and psychotherapy if required.

Strained hip flexor : it could be that you've strained a hip flexor muscle and with ice, rest and a short course of physical therapy you should improve if a tincture of time doesn't work.
