That hurts!!: If it's for sure that muscle, then a few weeks. You'll know because it will be feeling a lot better, especially when you stand on your toes.When it's feeling a little better, very gentle stretching will help it heal without getting too stiff. if you tore it way down by your heel, the tendon may be involved and that will need more care. Tendons heal more slowly. Motrin and icing will help too.

Not DIRECTLY: But the circulatory system is basically all connected.  If your problem is in one leg, it almost certainly is a focal problem.  See a doctor.

Accepted Answer

Conservative: Most gastrocnemius muscle strains are treated non operatively with protected weightbearing and temporary immobilization.  The factor deficiency doesn't change the plan but increases the risk of hematoma or bleeding problems.  If the calf gets really swollen then you might need factor treatments to control bleeding.

Mass/Cyst: You may be developing a ganglion cyst, or a Baker's cyst.  It is difficult to tell from your description, but if it is a fluid filled cyst, it is most likely a Gangion.  If your MRI (which I am assuming you have had as you know the cyst is 'loculated') shows a solid mass, you must seek medical attention for a possible excision or biopsy for a proper dianosis

See your surgeon : I'm guessing your surgeon trimmed out a meniscus tear and some arthroscopic fluid has 'leaked' out thru a small hole in your knee joint capsule. This is possible; however dvt's( blood clots)can also arise after knee surgery. Best advice is to see your surgeon and get examined promptly! Best of Luck

Several options: Pain in this are can be caused by several possibilities, including knee/muscle sprain, ruptured baker's cyst, blood clot, pinched lumbar nerve, etc.  If pain persists, your best bet will be to see a physician for further evaluation.

: Yes it is possible to injure a nerve with this type of injury. However the question should be, what are you doing to rehabilitate the injury. Ice message followed by stretching in AM. Stretching and ice in PM. Strengthening to follow. If a nerve is involved this will help heal. The other consideration would be to see a physical therapist. This needs to be rehabilitated properly

Gastric pain: Gastric muscles overlie another muscle called the soleus. These form the Achilles' tendon. You may have irritation to the this tendon, or posterior knee problems.  A PMR doc or orthopedic doctor can evaluate you to make a diagnosis and develop treatment plans

Accepted Answer

Pain medial calf: Sounds as very well could be medial gastroc strain.  Symptoms generally self limited and should improve with time.  For now recommend avoid provocative activities (running), gentle stretching as tol, anti-inflammatories,  ice, etc.  Would fully expect this to improve over a week or so.  Unlikely to represent a tear which is extremely painful and associated with significant swelling.
