Is there REAL block?: The key word is "apparent."  the colon may not be squeezing normally, from: nearby inflammation, virus infection, poor nervous system communication from/to brain/gut, diabetes, low thyroid, lack of water and fiber, low roughage diet, lack of exercise ... Etc.  True blockages come from scarring, tumors, cancers, pressure from outside the colon, kinking.  Colonoscopy by a good dr. Needed.  Good luck.

Cause: The next step will be finding the cause for your colon blockage in order to be able to address it. Talk to your doc about possibly seeing a gastroenterologist. Keep a log of symptoms, bowel movements, etc that should help your doc better direct the workup.

Sometimes yes: Was a CT scan done? Or ultrasound?  Barium scan can give more info than others.

Side Effects: The answer to your questions depends on the side effects you are having. Small bowel resection can affect stool transit time as well as nutrient absorption. Adhesions from any abdominal procedure may be a source of discomfort for some. I suggest you speak to your primary care doc about your symptoms to identify the most likely source of your symptoms. From there you can make a plan.

dr took x-rays demonstrating i seem to have a colon blockage. my stomach does go every morning but seem to have a lot of fesis left in colon. very uncomfortable. dr gave me picoprep. is extreme bloating normal?

The idea: Is appealing, in that it promotes regularity, and a theory of duration of carcinogens as cause of colorectal cancer makes sense.  However, I do not know that there are objective, controlled data, i.E one group got it, the other group  a placebo, and follow up for many years.

Yes: Fiber is healthy for general health and is helpful with colon function (i.e. Constipation). However, as with all good things there is another aspect. One side effect of a high fiber diet is enlargement and elongation of the colon.  This can result in side effects like colon malrotation or torsion.
Please know a low fiber diet leads to diverticula formation and the increased risk of  diverticulitis.

will a stool sample reveal intestinal bleeding or blockage/problems with the colon? gastro doc does not want to proceed to endoscopy. i am worried.

Cholecystitis: Is it any visible blood in the stool?There is the test available to reveal blood in the stool and it is called fecal occult blood test. The ultrasound  could be very helpful in showing gallbladder and possible gallbladder stones. After the mentioned above tests are performed the further actions could be planned.
