There are good medications for the conditions you are describing that may put you back in doing everyday things and be eligible to work if you decide so and the economy allows you to.

i have psoriatic arthritis & fibromyalgia. i frequently have a problem with my dominant arm, left, with tingling and a very uncomfortable feel, why?

Arm problem: Neither psoriatic arthritis or fibromyalgia don't seem to manifest with tingling as their main symptoms. Both are manifested with pain primarily, arthritis in the joints and fibromyalgia in the muscles. Tingling may not be related to these. There may be a nerve involvement or a medication side effect. You should talk to your doc about that.

i have psoriatic arthritis am on hydrocodone 10/325. why do different brands work better? my immune system is messed up and i have problems taking synthetics..is there a hydrocodone with less synthetics and why are there synthetics in pain meds?

: Anti inflammatory pain medication may be better for you, and it looks like what you are taking is something that the effect wears off with time. It is better, if you are not, to see a rheumatologist for better management rather than the problems of long term opioids.

i take an anti-inflammatory for psoriatic arthritis. can i take folic acid (b9) without problem?

Yes: Folic acid may help since the psoriasis can cause vitamin depletion, and is a must if you are taking methotrexate. Don't forget other b vitamins are used up as well.

i am being treated for psoriatic arthritis and hypothyroidism... and now they think i have sjorgens syndrome bc of mouth problems! is that possible?

Yes: It is fairly common for someone with one autoimmune disease to concurrently have one or two other autoimmune diseases. I have seen patients with hypothyroidism, psoriasis and sjogren's. This combo may not be so rare.

on prozac with no problems then had methatrexate for psoriatic arthritis. then had panic attack. put on zoloft (sertraline) but would like to go back on prozac but anxious about this. not on methotrexate anymore. thank you.

Talk to your doctor : Based upon your case as you have presented it deserves a retrial of Prozac (fluoxetine). Talk to your doctor. If it worked for you before, it should work again.

See your doctor.: A rheumatology referral may be necessary, but a nsaid, with sulfasalazine and Methotrexate given once weekly are my first treatments.  The biologics work (enbrel, humira, (adalimumab) remicade) work, but are quite expensive, not generic, require prior authorization, and almost always require prior Methotrexate therapy. Leflunomide, azothioprine, and Cyclosporine are options, given by someone in rheumatology!

Yes: It is more typical for psoriatic arthritis to start when you are young. Usually, around 30, but you can get it at any age.

is it possible to have psoriatic arthritis and test negative for arthritis?

Accepted Answer

Yes: Actually psoriatic arthritis does not have any specific blood testing or antibodies, different to rheumatoid arthritis where we usually have 2 antibodies that help with the diagnosis. The most important fact is to have psoriasis, a history of psoriasis or a 1st degree family member with psoriasis. Psoriatic arthritis is a clinical diagnosis and does not rely much on blood work.
