i see many places say 30% of people with psoriasis develop psoriatic arthritis. but then when i actually read studies several large scale investigation only show 5-20% do. thats a big difference so why do many places still say 30%?

: In some cases people develop the arthritis before the skin eruptions of psoriasis actually appears. I wonder if some of the studies include these type of cases  retrospectively while other studies hadn't included them.

your nutrition!: Often this condition responds really well to changes in diet.  The two most common ingredients that cause food reactivity and autoimmune reactions are gluten (most grains)  and casein (dairy).  Try eliminating both for a couple of months.  This is a simple suggestion but not easy as these ingredients are in many processed foods we eat daily. Also recommend dr. Lipski's book "digestive wellness.".

No: There are  effective treatments which suppress the arthritis and it is sysmptoms such as Enbrel stelara (ustekinumab)  Remicade etc.

None: Psoriatic arthritis typically does not cause nodules. Skin and lung and eye nodules typically occur with rheumatoid arthritis.

Sometimes: There needs to be more research but there is evidence showing that those who drink alcohol regularly have a greater risk of psoriasis, and many who have psoriasis & psoriatic arthritis note that their symptoms flare with alcohol use and improve when they avoid it; but this likely is not true for everyone who has psoriasis. Most start with...: A non-steroidal agent such as naproxen, coupled with Methotrexate and perhaps sulfasalazine.  There are many drugs that can be used, but these are common starting agents! the Methotrexate will also improve the psoriasis quite frequently.

Methotrexate, TNFs: Methotrexate is usually the most common initial therapy. Tnf agents such as remicade, (infliximab) Enbrel or Humira are also extremely effective, especially if Methotrexate alone is not sufficient.
