does anything help the psoriasis scalp itch?

Doctor can evaluate: A dermatologist can evaluate a scalp rash to be sure it is psoriasis. It could also be eczema,  tinea capitis (a fungal infection), or some other itchy rash. If a patient is pretty sure her rash is psoriasis, she can try over-the-counter Hydrocortisone gels/creams/sprays, a tar shampoo, oral antihistamines, etc..., while waiting for the dermatology appointment.

ive been diagnosed with psoriasis (scalp,genitals,armpit,fingers,eyebrows) years ago. as my spots sometimes look round, could this be fungus?could doc be mistaken? i didnt do tests. psoriasis ok finger looks round like fungus?

: With rash many years, almost certainly it is not a fungal infection, and round spots can occur with psoriasis. But given this much time, you should see a dermatologist to confirm the diagnosis and prescribe treatment, especially since there now are very effective treatment not available all those years ago. You may be able to achieve nearly clear skin. (See all those TV ads!) Good luck.

Scalp Psoriasis: There are a few medications for scalp psoriasis. Relief, but not cures. Tar shampoos (t-gel, tarsum, dhs-tar) and several prescription shampoos containing cortisone derivatives, such as clobex shampoo. Derma-smoothe fs, taclonex, and more are available. Very pricey and you need a prescription from your doctor to get them. Best luck!

No: We used to talk about "seborriasis" for red, flaky, scaly patches on the scalp. Probably it is all seborrhea. Either disease is a management problem , not curable with the key being to learn how best to manage your individual case. Best wishes. Perhaps ketoconazole will be helpful.

Psoriasis treatment: Scalp: start with otc sebulex or tegrin (coal tar) shampoo.  Skin: medium strenght cortisone cream such as elocon.  Moisturizers daily.

Oral plus topical: For encrusted scabies, you need to use oral Ivermectin along with topical permethrin. In addition, you must wash all of your clothes and bedding every day in hot water to kill the mites in the cloth. Scabies is tricky to treat sometimes but with time, a bit of care and patience it can be done, .
