can psoriatic arthritis have a positive rf factor? was diagnosed with seropositive ra. take methotrexate 1cc weekly and humira biweekly. have developed psoriasis on both elbows. blood work only showed rf +,elevated crp, high sed rate.could it be psa?

: There are false positive RF in significant amounts. Yours could be a false positive or you could have both psoriasis and rheumatoid arthritis. PSA can elevate sed rate &amp; CRP. Are your fingernails pitted? If you're female, I favor RA&amp; psoriasis. If male, PSA. . However A rheumatologist is best to advise you.

Psoriasis: Seeing your dermatologist would be good. But you need to lotion, without scrubbing, as often as you can. You can also compound lotions with topical corticosteroids to be applied multiple times per day but you must seek this advice from your treating dermatologist.

Psoriasis in teens: Try an otc moisturizer cream with 1% Hydrocortisone cream 2x/day.  If no improvement see your doctor.

Not necessarily: Psoriasis can remain very localized and not spread in many cases.

: It would require physical examination to know better, however, it is likely post-inflammatory pigmentation and will fade gradually. It may take much longer than you may like, but it is harmless.

Psoriatic arthritis!: There is some correlation between cutaneous activity of psoriasis and the severity and/or lieklyhood of arthritis in general.  Sacroliitis is a major feature of some types of psoriatic arthritis!  see someone in rheumatology to best manage your problem!

Luckily, : Luckily, there are several really effective therapies for moderate to severe plaque psoriasis.   Sometimes, i inject kenalog into the elbows and knees of my patients with psoriasisi. Skin biobsy ,Flake: There are no lab tests or blood tests available to confirm or deny the presence of psoriasis.
Instead, a doctor must examine the skin and nails closely, sometimes analyzing dry skin under a microscope.Your doctor may take a small sample of skin (biopsy) that's examined under a microscope to determine the exact type of psoriasis and to rule out other disorders.

Psoriasis: Psoriasis on the elbow is usually a thickened, silvery scaled plaque that may have a reddish base.  Blotchy rashes are not usually psoriasis.

Call doctor: Psoriasis can be associated with severe arthritis but it is impossible to tell whether yours is caused by psoriasis or not , Better to consult your doc and get examined.
