what do the ingredients do: pseudoephedrine and triprolidine hydrochloride ?

Decongestant & anti-: Histamine, respectvely. Pseudoephedrine works on the symptom of nasal stuffiness. Triprolidine treats nasal itching, sniffine, sneezing, post nasal drip & runny nose. Together they treat all of the symptoms of allerguc rhinitis. Originally marketed as actifed their major side-effects include sleepiness & nervousness. No oral antihistamines are effective for nasal congestion (stuffiness).

i'm taking guaifenesin pseudoephedrine and codeine. will these make me feel different than usual?

Possibly: Guaifenesin doesn't really cause emotional, mental or physical changes in most people other than loosening congestion so you can cough it out more easily.Pseudoephedrine hypes some folks up &amp; decreases appetite, codeine can cause sedation &amp; drowsiness.In combination, they usually balance out, but you may be more sensitive to one of the ingredients than another.

Not pseudophedrine: Its not the pseudophedrine.  It is the antihistamine in the actifed.

Opposite: It is very unusual for Pseudoephedrine to make you drowsy. Quite the opposite, it is actually a stimulant for most people, and one of the well known side effects is insomnia. If you are drowsy, it is more likely one of the other ingredients or your underlying medical condition for which you are taking the medication. (or poor sleep brought on by the medication).

i'm allergic to codeine and morphine and was told that i'm allergic to 'ine' family. is it ok for me to take sudafed pe?

Yes: It has no opoid in it and you should be ok with it.

Depending: On how long you used it and how much probably 3-4 days. Couldn't you take a letter from your doc stating you had a prescription to use them??

i'm breastfeeding & dr rxd sudafed & guifen w/ codeine. haven't taken yet but baby is sick now so will medicine passed into milk help him feel better?

No: Only tiny amounts of a breastfeeding mom's cold & cough meds get into her breastmilk, so should not affect the baby. Older babies with mild cold symptoms (such as stuffy/runny nose and mild cough, but are still happy/active) can be watched at home if ok with the doctor. The baby's doctor may want to test the baby for strep throat or the flu. Young babies under 3 months should be seen by a doctor.

Yes, you can, but: It has been estimated that approximately 70% of migraine headaches overlie the sinuses and are triggered by changes in barometric pressure. These patients actually suffer from migraine but usually are diagnosed with sinus headache and use over-the counter vasoconstrictor agents for relief. See a headache specialist.
