i'm really constipated lately. what in prune juice is supposed to help, since more fiber doesn't work in me?

Additional measures: People with severe constipation, adter adequate daily fiber and fluid intake, may need to add a daily stool softener or two. If this doesn't help, the next step can be the addition of a stool loosener such as miralax (polyethylene glycol). Follow the directions.Generics are fine.

i looked up if prune juice can be used daily, however, i have seen things say that you can't take prune juice daily because it has a ingredient similar to laxatives, can any of you confirm this? or at least offer alternative high fiber sources?

Daily prune juice OK: Should be perfectly safe and natural. Also advise to keep well hydrated with lots of water. Eat plenty of fruit (apples with peel, strawberries, rasberries) &amp; high fiber vegetables (Dark colored, Brussel sprouts, Swiss chard, collard greens, broccoli &amp; also carrots. Limit dairy, especially cheese.

can u become dependent on prune juice to go poo? i feel like nothing works for me anymore and im scared i developed a dependency.fiber makes it worse.

Prune juice: It is fine to become dependent on a healthy substance like a natural fruit juice. No worries.

constipated for 2 wks. i took miralax & colace for 3 days, but neither helped.  i've been drinking prune juice & eating high fiber foods.  i've gone a little, but i'm still constipated. my k level is 3.2. what can i do at this point? (best options?)

Enema/water: At this point I suggest that you try a Fleet's enema which you can buy at the pharmacy. Continue the miralax (polyethylene glycol) nightly.  The colace is not likely to help much but adding a fiber supplement, walking daily for at least 30 minutes and drinking at least 3 liters of water daily could also help.  If this does not work then you may need to see a doctor for a medical intervention.

Try drinking water: At your age, I would reccommend 6-8 glasses of water first along with fiber and exercise. If problem persists, see a GI doctor.

CONSTIPATION: In addition to what she is already taking she may take sennosides orally, next would be dulcolax suppositories or "Fleets" enema with much lubrication.

Call: your gastroenterologist or the doctor who performed the colonoscopy now. Do not wait. Call for instructions &amp; you may need an exam to be sure there are no complications from your procedure.

Okay: It's okay to take both. There are interactions with grapefruits though.

Part of healthy diet: Prune juice is no better or worse than any other fruit juice, beverage or food for that matter.  If it makes you feel healthy, do it.
