Elderly sex: There is no age limit for sexual activity. I have patients that are sexually active into their 80's. However, being older does not protect you from std's so please use barrier protection.

No: There is no permanent cure for ic but in some patients the disease seems to resolve over time.  Some patients will have flares of the disease with symptoms coming & going over time.  Others will have symptoms resolve for the most part over time.  Still others will have persistent symptoms to some degree. Complex answer: Firstly: bland diet avoiding acid urine producing foods and beverages ie oj. Reduce stress. Anticholinergic medications to relax bladder muscle, pain meds., elavil, elmiron, (pentosan) DMSO or chlorpactin bladder instillations, cystoscopic bladder hydrodistension. Not cystectomy. IC belly: "ic belly" is felt to be a result of interstitial cystitis, leading to abdominal pain and bloating.  Ic is best diagnosed by urologists through cystoscopy.

I C: Interstitial cystitis has no cure.  It is a chronic condition and most who treat it believe that narcotic analgesics have no role in its management.  If your physician is not offering you the full spectrum of treatment modalities, find a urologist who treats ic regularly and offers the full spectrum of treatment options including intravesical treatment and even physical therapy.

IC: I assume u meant interstitial cystitis. Here, symptoms are related to urinary tract. Some with ic may have other conditions associated with it, such as irritable bowel syndrome, fibromyalgia, chronic fatigue syndrome, endometriosis, lupus, & anxiety disorders.

Nasal: Things Bactrim (sulfamethoxazole and trimethoprim) or septra which is an antibiotic and not used as a treatment foe nasal congestion.
