There is nothing to do to prepare to pass the test.you need to follow your doctors instructions exactly and stop any medications as directed.  This is a potentially dangerous test and should only be done in a pulmonary function lab or in a doctors office with those trained to treat acute bronchospasm.  It is better in ruling out asthma.

Bronchial challenge tests can also be done with histamine, mannitol and individual allergens like pollen, dust, molds etc.

Bronchospasm : Methacholine induces bronchospasm in susceptible patients. Once it is inhaled, you undergo pulmonary function testing looking for airway obstruction. Most patients will not experience any symptoms during this test, even if obstruction occurs. It is a very safe test.
