Separate problem: Protein in the urine is a separate problem from gallbladder sludge/stones and can be serious. Kidney damage that can lead to kidney failure is associated with protein in the urine. Okay to talk to your doc about additional risks for kidney problems, (diabetes, hypertension, elevated phosphorous). Also okay to ask about surgery referral for cholecystectomy.

Proteinuria: Protein is normally not found in urine. The usual system used to quantify protein is 0, trace, and then 1+ to 4+. So there is a source of protein in the urine and the meaning of this needs to be looked at with any other lab abnormalities, signs/symptoms, clinical context.

Several issues: Blood (hamturia) and leukocytes (wbc's in the urine) are common signs of a uti, and you should be evaluated and possibly treated with antibiotics.  Protein could be a sign of high blood pressure, posible diabetes, or a simple finding of early kidney disease.  Have yourself examined and treated as necesary and then get a follow-up urine as part of the process.  Good luck.
