PSA: PSA has no role in evaluating prostatitis. While occasionally, prostatitis will make the PSA rise, this is not consistent enough to help with diagnosis.  prostatitis is a clinical diagnosis. There's not a definitive test therefore.

Hydration: Drink plenty of water, enough to keep your urine clear. Minimize caffeine, carbonation, coffee. Try soaking in the hot tub.  Try some ibuprofen.  Cases of acute prostatitis require antibiotics, however the majority of low grade-chronic prostatitis cases do not really need antibiotics and the above- mentioned measures seem to help the most.
