i have a pathology report of benign proliferative endometrium with stromal breakdown. what exactly does this mean and is it abnormal?

: At age "44", ovulation is frequently not "regular", and extra stimulation of the endometrium occurs with sustained estrogen production, and this can cause "stromal breakdown" leading to "spotting" or actual vaginal bleeding.  "Benign" indicates that the tissue examined has no abnormal cellular content.

The: Cells in endometrium are multiplying  part of the cell layers have separated. Do not see any mention of suspicious cells, but talk to your OB for more details.

See below: All laboratory results need to be interpreted in the clinical context and the doctor who ordered the tests is usually in the best position to do that. Talk to the doctor who ordered the tests. Having said that, your results indicate abnormal uterine lining and may indicate hormonal imbalance. It is not indicative of cancer.

No worries!: Benign is normal or "non-cancerous".  Proliferative just means the cells are in the phase where they are dividing which is normal during the estrogen part of the cycle.  Endocervical tissue is just cells that came from inside the cervix - these were also benign!  All good news!

i had a diagnostic hysteroscopy with myosure morcellation. my findings were as follows: disordered proliferative endometrium with breakdown. should i be worried? i had a blood transfusion because my iron was only 4.7. it is now up to 10.5?

: The description "Disordered proliferative endometrium with breakdown" is one way to describe normal findings. Doctors don't like to write "normal" or the other doctors will berate them for being lazy.

Only in postmenopaus: The endometrium is the lining of the uterus, and it 'proliferates' during the 1st 1/2 of the menstrual cycle under the influence of the estrogen that a woman's body produces in the ovaries.  It's a normal state of being for the lining during the 1st half of the cycle.  Nothing to worry about.
