: A babies myopia relates to the shape of their smaller eyeball &amp; the fact that shorter/smaller eye sends visual light to focus on a point behind the retina. With growth, the sharp focus moves forward  to the actual retina as they get older &amp; achieve their natural eyesight.  Adult eyes have a fixed focal point that will not change. Eyeglasses or Lasik can change the focal point to correct vision.

: A "posterior vitreous detachment" is already a partial retinal tear.  Get a referral to a University Medical School ophthalmologist for guidance, as recurrence or more serious detachment is possible.

Depends on age: There is some information that use of certain eyedrops during childhood may be able to slow progression of, but not cure, myopia. After age 21, with stable readings, one can consider laser refractive surgery (i.e. Lasik or prk) if the affected individual does not want to wear glasses or contact lenses to correct the myopia. Myopic eyes are at higher risk for glaucoma and retinal detachment.

Myopia Reversible: Myopia is correctable.  Glasses, contact lenses, refractive surgery.  But not reversible per say.  
Myopia is a basically an anatomic variation.   The goal of any eye is to focus light onto the retina.  In a myopic eye the eye is too long and the lens and cornea are too powerful.  So light is focused in front of the retina.  Lenses and surgery just change where the focal point is.

I wish we knew: Myopia is becoming more common.  Some relate it  to chronic indoor life instead of outdoor activities common in human ancestry.  There are many suggestive things to modify it including certain dilating drops, light changes and activity modifiers.  No true cure is known but good eyeglass and contact correction exists and LASIK is commonly performed.

Myopia is usually genetic and there is no known reason.  It could be caused by a longer than normal eye or a steeper cornea.
