Echo: Many test choices. Echo shows structure and function. Angio shows blood vessels. Nuclear shows perfusion. They all show additional things too and there are other tests too.

Heart problems: There are many kinds of 'heart problems'.  Having a normal echocardiogram rules out many of them and is unlikely to change without something happening to you and signalling its presence by symptoms. Those 'heart problems' not demonstrated by echocardiogram, of course, aren't included.

Abdominal beating: No you can not rule out abdominal aortic pathology from echo. In thin individuals you can feel abdominal pulsation from aorta. Ultrasound or ct chest/abdomen/pelvis can rule out abdominal aortic aneurysms.

Both: It tells you both structure and rythm, but it meant to evaluate for structure, measuring ejection fraction in each heart beat and evaluate pressure gradient in all four chambers. Ekg tells you rhythm.

No: Echocardiograms & stress tests are used to evaluate your heart's function and possibility of blockage in arteries to heart. However, neither test will evaluate carotid arteries. At your age, given your gender, you shouldn't need either test, nor to worry about stroke risk, unless you have an extremely strong family history of premature heart disease & stroke. Carotid ultrasound will check nec.

can benign pvcs kill you?ekg and echocardiogram are normal. monitor shows less than 1% pvcs. problem is i feel them and anxiety is killing me

: It depends on what the procedure is that you are now having done. It sounds like an electrocardiogram was done prior to your colonoscopy. An echocardiogram is a very different test. Is it possible you have a heart murmur? An echocardiogram shows what is happening with blood flow through the heart as well as valves. If it is being recommended, it is for the safety of your procedure. Good luck!
