loose stools and significant white mucus in stool after starting to take magnesium citrate (150mg, 1 x daily) and probiotic (50bn cfu 1 x daily). used to be constipated (6 months). had fecal calprotectin test 4 months ago and was negative. ibs?

Constipation: You may better off by increasing your fiber and water intake. You may take a fiber laxative like Metamucil and drink enough water daily so that your urine is colorless. For the long term you may try to increase your intake of fiber foods. Consult this site for fiber foods.

is 50 billion enough?

Pro mean with: and bio means life.  Probiotics help the GI system digest food.  Anti means against. So, if one takes excessive antibiotics (which are sometimes needed) they can kill off the good bacteria in our GI systems and we can have digestive problems.  LOOK FOR A WIDE VARIETY OF STRAINS RATHER THAN HIGHER NUMBER OF FEWER STRAINS.  Peace and good health.

None: Objective evidence for usefulness of probiotics is lacking.
Wish you good health! - Have a diet rich in fresh vegetables, fruits, whole grains, milk and milk products, nuts, beans, legumes, lentils and small amounts of lean meats. Avoid saturated fats. Drink enough water daily, so that your urine is mostly colorless. Exercise at least 150 minutes/week and increase the intensity of exercise gradually. Do not use tobacco, alcohol, weed or street drugs in any form. 
Practice safe sex, if you have sex.

Probiotics: The best you can take would probably be cultured unpasteurized yogurt.  Any and all others are ok.

i take xymogen probiotic 30 billion cfu. they're out of it so i got 100 billion. can i take 1 every 3 days and get same effect? how long do they live?

No: still do one daily but they will reepopulate your gut faster than the "30"S

It depends: ...mostly on where your candida infection is.  Candida is usually treated with an antifungal agent, such as ketoconazole, for example.  Prrobiotics in and of themselves will not treat a Candida infection. I would speak to your primary care or GI doctor. Good luck.

Gut Flora: Yes, it is safe to take probiotics with antibiotics. Actually there is growing evidence that it can be helpful in preventing diarrhea, a common side effect from antibiotics. Our gut generally has good bacteria (probiotic) that we need for both protection from harmful bacteria and general function for digestion. Another alternative is to eat cultured yogurt, which also has some probiotic elements.
