Best BP MED IN YOUNG: You should try to move to the DASH diet eating plan. If you do it like your life depended on it  at least 50% will not need meds. If that fails to work and you are on the Zz DASH as reflected by Na|K in a urine the next preferred med is chlorthalidone depending on other issues you may have

Other Labs?: I hope your thyroid has been checked and is normal.  Although typically those with low thyroid causing weight gain are short and you are rather tall!   It is probably a simple matter of more calories taken in than you are burning off which is putting you in a positive calorie balance resulting in weight gain.  Drink only water, eat 8 fruits and veggies daily and ramp exercise to 10,000 steps daily
