what to do if i have developed glaucoma from using pred forte. if i stop using pred forte will the glaucoma go away?

Why?: Why are you using pred forte?  It may help treat the pressure/glaucoma or cause the high pressure / glaucoma. Most likely you need to try and get of the Pred Forte and treat the glaucoma. The pressure may resolve when stopping the pred forte.

Accepted Answer

It is an eye drop: No it will not cause weight gain as it is an eye drops or ophthalmic ointment and if used as directed is not absorped in significant amount.But if Prednisolone is used orally for significant period of time, than only it will cause weight gain.

need to know if taking propanolol or atenolol orally and using pred forte 3 times daily can make vision worse?

Possibly: If you are prone to it, Pred Forte can raise your blood sugars and that can cause blurry vision.  Atenolol also has been implicated in making sugars worse and interfering with metabolism.  See your doctor and check labs including sugars.

NO: No, Pred Forte is a steroid and does not cause dilation. You may have other drops that possibly you touched with your hand and then your eye that could cause it to dialte with the smallest amount of contact (not putting a drop in the eye directly).  Or the condition you are using the Pred Forte for is causing the eye to appear dilated (or the adjacent eye to be smaller, making the eye other eye).

Blurry from inflam?: The inflammation can cause permanent blur due to swelling in the retina or cataract. Long-term use of steroid drops can also cause cataract. You should ask your eye doctor to clarify why you have decreased vision, and if it can be improved.

i've had iritis for 2 months, i stopped mydrilate over a week ago and still taking pred forte. my eye is stil dilated, my dr don't kno why (not stuck)

Wait: Most likely the drug is still working.  If the eye remains dilated beyond 1-2 weeks after stopping the drop, then it may be attached to the lens.

can one build up a tolerance to either alrex (loteprednol) and pred forte eye drops over time, decreasing their effectiveness?

Probably not: Alrex (loteprednol) is extremely weak and you would not be likely to notice the difference.  Pred Forte has a good deal of anti-inflammatory strength but is a cognate of a natural hormone so you would not lose response.  The condition you are treating might get more severe however which you would interpret as the drop losing effectiveness.

can i use "pred forte" eye drops and "maxidex" ointment for my red eyes and also having itching in my eyes.

Have you used: these drops before? One needs to use steroids in the eye carefully and under supervision of an eye care provider. Red eyes can come from a number of causes such as allergy, dry eye, inflammation, or infection. I would start with artificial tears or anti-allergy drops first and if they don't help seek eye care for further diagnosis and treatment. Good luck!

my son has been on ritalin for many years and i have been advised to take him off it. i have been told to use a medication called release sce forte. it contains sceletium tortuosum also known as kanna. is this advise worth using?

Son doing ok?: Sceletium is a plant from South Africa. It has a long history of use as a traditional medicine by tribes of SA. It has been used to enhance mood, cause relaxation, and euphoria. Traditionally, the roots and leaves were fermented and then chewed.

The mechanism of action is increase in serotonin , ritalin increases dopamine -so not really the same-no controlled studies
