i'm practicing yoga after a long hiatus. how do i determine a safe stretch for my body? i've attended one class, so far, and until my flexibility increases, i want to avoid injury by stretching safely, but still achieve a productive stretch.

I : I recommend discussing this with your yoga teacher.  It is always safest to start slow and slowly increase your stretch over many days or weeks as you adjust to the stretch.  You want to avoid painful stretches to try to decrease chance of tearing soft tissues or injuring yourself. Good luck!

Stability: You are in control of yourself and keeps you very stable in all that aspects and you grow younger in time, happier, healthier and prettier.

why i can't stretch my hamstring without feeling pain in the calf? i have been practicing yoga for 3 years but i don't feel any calf improvement.

See below: Go see a physical therapist who specializes in the back and lower extremities and i would also recommend seeing an orthopedic surgeon for just some basic x-rays , evaluation and see if you have any  underlying structural issues which would lead to your mechanical problems.

is it yoga safe for my heart? i have arrhythmia, valve abnorm and an indication of rvh. sometimes i experience dizziness when practicing yoga. advice?

Stay hydrated: Most forms of yoga are safe and even recommended. "hot" yoga should probably be avoided. If feeling lightheaded, make sure to drink water and stay hydrated.

Flexibility goal: Yes. Keep it playful and the time spent should be age appropriate.

Accepted Answer

Yes: Yoga has been used in india at all ages but not in the way americans assume. Yoga is a lifestyle:yoga is the union of the mind and body, a way of thinking, eating & doing. So teaching your child to respect the world, eat from mother nature, respect their body and others, breathing, taking care of self, and doing the positions (asanas) to help bring awareness is great. Just hard core yoga class, no.

i don't have enough time in the morning so can u plx suggest me sum othr time to practice yoga ?

Before you go home: From work, stop off somewhere you can do it before you go home. Have your stuff in the car. Walking into the house is a powerful que to do nothing.

can i practice yoga with a broken rib?

Accepted Answer

Yes.: Why not?  If you can bear the discomfort and your physician agrees that it is safe for you, go right ahead.

recently i always wake up at 3/4am at night & can't go back to sleep. work 6 days a week so need the rest. how do i stop this? i practice yoga daily

You could try: melatonin or benadryl (diphenhydramine) or warm milk and see if any work..

i practice yoga regularly. lately i have heel pain  when i flex my right foot. the pain is fairly localized. what might be the cause?

Pulled Muscle: You may have pulled or torn your muscle. I would have this looked at by a doctor to so they can make a proper diagnosis and further help you from there :].
