Hi. I am curious why: I am curious why you were hit in the head repeatedly a week ago.  That has as much to do with how I would answer your question as anything.  The what you could have is an abusive relationship. One that deserves as much attention as the lethal other possibilities. i keep feeling my  heartbeat  (or pounding)  in the top or back of my head. what could cause this? no headache though

Head congestion: Most likely you have a blocked eustachian tube ( the connection between your middle ear and throat that "pops" when you go up a mountain.) if you're getting over a cold, that would explain it. If not, and it persists, you should be checked for a more serious but rare cause (like an aneurysm) but it's very unlikely that you have that.

Usually migraine: is the cause of pounding headaches on one side of the head in a 25 year old lady especially if this is recurrent. Now having said that I must point out that there are a few uncommon things that will present with headache that require further investigation. Many things can cause or contribute to migraine. Headaches: See your medical doctor to obtain relief. A thorough history and physical examination will determine the type of headache, the cause of the headache, and provide the best treatment to relieve the headache. In the meantime, Drink lots of fluids, try sleeping, or resting in a dark and quiet cool room. Massage, aromatherapy, and meditation techniques may help too.

How frequent??: Does not sound serious but if it is occurring frequently I would have it checked out.  Most likely causes are migraine versus tension headache.

Concussion: Sounds like post concussive syndrome. Treatment is usually total brain rest that includes not watching tv, studying, reading, etc.  You should be see. By neurologist or concussion specialist for further work up.
