Please seek medical: Evaluation for these symptoms. Severe anxiety can impact bonding with your new baby.  In the meantime, avoid caffeine & either eliminate or keep alcohol use moderate. Try deep breathing exercises and progressive muscle relaxation. Get out with your new baby in a stroller and walk. Physical activity in green spaces is especially helpful.

Let others know: you have this and reach out often for socialization and normalcy. I would suggest you seek a psychiatrist and get medical evaluation as this can be serious and all depression can lead to bad  judgement regarding care of young children. you don't want any regrets so please seek help. i think i have postpartum anxiety how should i deal with that other then medications? i know everything's ok i still just seem to worry mind races

Exercise : Exercise is a great way to get rid of that anxious feeling. Drink chamomile tea and take a hot bath when you can. You need some time for yourself. If possible, even get put of the house alone or with a group of girls! it's great just to be around adults and away from the kids when you can.

suffering from severe postpartum anxiety. have been on 20mg prozac (fluoxetine) for 5.5 weeks. should i up the dose to 40 yet or wait? my primary doc says i can double now, but i'm scared of side effects.

Complicated: Consider some post-partum psychotherapy. There are many w/ this problem and a specialist can help! It may avoid drugs so nursing is safer. If you're scared - don't do it. Your fears alone will counteract the effects. Talk to your OBGYN for a good referral to therapy (there might be a group). Primary doctors may not up the best for either of these issues. zoloft (sertraline) upped to 75 mg and seroquel 25 mg added for postpartum anxiety.  i was immediately on edge but was fine when on 50 mg zoloft (sertraline). what happened?

Medication reaction: Maybe I'm not understanding what you're saying but to me it sounds like you got too much of a good thing.  In other words you seemed to be fine with just the Zoloft (sertraline) at 50 mg. according to what you wrote. Then, for some reason the doctor decided to increase the Zoloft (sertraline) &amp; add Seroquel (not one of my faves due to inconsistency of beneficial vs. side effects). Check with doctor: Klonopin (clonazepam) gets into breast milk and can cause side effects in your baby. However, some reports say risks are very low. Best to check with pediatrician or family doctor. Decide what's best for you and your baby. Taking Klonopin (clonazepam) and bottle feeding may be a good alternative. You're calmer and your baby will benefit.

1: Go back to your Gynecologist for evaluation.
2: Have your doctor refer you to a Psychologist who will work well to get you less worried.
