Possible: While highly unlikely, it is possible to ovulate in the first week of your pill pack, so it's important to try never to miss pills that first week.  Having said that, the likelihood is still very low given unlikely to ovulate that early in one's cycle.  I would continue your pills through end of pack and then check a pregnancy test at end of pack.

This month: As long as you take the pill everyday as directed at the same time each day, the pill is effective this month. Some exercise caution by using a "back up" method of contraception for the first month in conjunction with the pill.

Yes: If you are sexually active there is ALWAYS a possibility of pregnancy!   But if you are taking the pills as prescribed not taking any medicines to reduce the effectiveness of the pills (antibiotics) then the likelihood is low.

Likely normal: What you described is likely a normal variation on your cycle. Menstrual irregularities are not uncommon and anovulatory cycle is a common cause. If you miss more than two periods it would be time to see your doctor. If you do not wish to be pregnant, use contraception all the time. You may consider implanted contraceptive or an IUD.

Very little: You do not need a back up method of birth control when starting pills on the first day of your cycle. Birth control pills are 99% effective with "perfect use" (never missing a pill and taking them the same time every day), but about 91% effective with "typical use" (using them the way people typically do - occasionally missing a pill, not always taking them at the same time each day, etc).

: Given the sequence described, waiting until your normal menstruation ended does not prevent ovulation 100% , so while unlikely, pregnancy is still possible.  If there is no withdrawal bleeding during the placebo week, obtain a serum HCG test to be certain about pregnancy.

The : The essure is a very effective means of birth control, but as this is a change for you it would be reasonable to take a pregnancy test to be sure.  If you continue having irregular bleeding or spotting then it would be reasonable to have a gynecological evaluation.  Please be sure your pap is up to date also.

was recently prescribed hailey fe birth control to prevent pregnancy. do i take it one the first day my period starts or on the sunday after my period ends? confused by when to start taking it?

: You can do it either way. You need to be on your period so that you know that you are not pregnant. But if your period starts in the middle of the week, it can be confusing to start a new pill pack midweek since many are labeled for Sunday starts. Do what makes sense with your schedule and take the contraceptive at the same time each day.
