Accepted Answer

Not specific: The spike noted in the urine is the LH surge, which occurs about 24 hours before ovulation. The temp change is very non-specific and can be affected by a lot of things. You can probably look back to see when ovulation occurred by when your period starts, which should be 14 days after you ovulate.

positive opk this morning @4am. had intercourse. opk still positive @8pm. when will i ovulate. practice is the next 3 days? can u have too much sex?

Yes: The OPK will stay positive while your LH, one of the hormones in your body is elevated.  You can have too much sex- the recommendation is every other day from 10-20 days of your cycle, based on a 28 day cycle.  Sperm need time to properly form, and if you have sex too often, they haven't had time to properly develop and result in pregnancy.

Ovulation prediction: Ovulation predictor kits (opk) predict when you will ovulate. When you detect the first positive that means you will ovulate within the next 24 hours. That means ovulation takes place next day after positive test. Once you see the first positive, you don't need to continue checking as the test will stay positive for 2 days then turn negative again.

No: I do not depend on ovulation predictor kits. There is too much variability with them and they are not as accurate as we think.

Menses: No, in a regular cycle menstruation follows 2 weeks after ovulation.

on saturday i consumed a weed cookie and then took an opk after, which came back positive, indicating my lh surge was currently peaking. it has been 2 days since expected ovulation and my bbt has not increased. have i ruined this cycle to conceive?

Fertility ?'s: The rise in temperature from pre-ovulatory to post-ovulatory is small, and unless one has a specific BBT thermometer, a regular thermometer is difficult to determine this rise.  Small amounts of marijuana will not "ruin this cycle".  Ask your gyn about a hysterosalpingogram (HSG) , a simple test to determine if your tubes are open...leading cause of infertility.

pcos: positive opks for 2 days after confirmed ovulation. is this normal?

PCOS +OPK: This could simply be very high levels of LH turning the test positive. If you have positive LH indication on multiple days, the LH testing may not work for you to predict the day of ovulation or if in fact you are ovulating.

Repeat preg test: Pregnancy test kits are not 100% accurate.  You can try a different brand to definitively rule out pregnancy.  Another possibility is that you ovulated weakly and did not produce enough progesterone to have a menses.  Also, some women have chronically high LH levels (PCOS) so the OPK show positive all the time or erratic results.  If you have a history of irregular menses then that is more likely.

Possibilities: Since your body can't ovulate twice in a cycle like that, i'd say the options are: 1) you may be pregnant, remember that the HCG hormone is almost identical to the lh hormone that the OPK detects, so preg. Can cause false + on OPK 2) test may be inaccurate (there are variable quality opk's on the market).

i've got a 35 day cycle. is it possible to ovulate 3/4 days after your period, i got a positive opk on cd8. ?

Anything is possible: During any one menstrual cycle anything is possible. This is why we do not focus on one particular cycle and instead take a long term view of the patient and her cycles.
