why is the top of my right foot popping when i walk. i have never broken or sprained my foot before but it has been happening for a while.

Popping in the foot: Not really enough information but popping could be from tendonitis. When tendons are inflamed with swelling they tend to pop. Could also be from joints, like "cracking one's knuckles". Does it hurt? If not likely not too serious.

: Difficult to give diagnosis on this presentation  There are conditions that involve the area between the calcaneus and talus. Also subluxation of the cuboid is part of the differential diagnosis. Recommend seeing a podiatrist for X-rays and exam.

Crack joints: Hearing a cracking sound to feet, ankle or toes is not too concerning.  What the sound represents is air being pushed and dispersed inside the joint.  It does not mean actual damage to the joints.  I hope that relieves your concern.

Multiple reasons: Veins return blood back to the heart and  can carry a large volume of blood.  Depending on many factors including levels of hydration,  genetics, outside temperature and even physical activity, the size of the veins will vary.  Another important function of the veins is to help control body temperature and this too will affect vein size.  Also with aging, veins enlarge as tissue volume decreases.

can you suggest a means to get my feet back to normal after popping a blister?

Rest: Apply vaseline to blister until healed and try to stay off your feet whenever possible so that they can heal.

Maybe: Gravity, position, standing on your legs can cause a lot of the vein swelling.  If you become painful orbecome excessively swollen you may want to get examined for possible varicose veins or blood clots.

how do you treat an open cut on your foot due to popping a blister?

Accepted Answer

Clean and cover: Clean it with normal saline.  Do not use peroxide.  Cover it with a sterile bandage and put antibiotic ointment on it.  Treat it like this for about 5-10 days or until the blister has dried at its base.  Do not allow it to open air, as the risk for a staph infection is high with broken blisters.
