always type6 (bristol) done in one go. but last 2weeks been having type4. same diet, exercise etc. had blood once last wk after poo. what'd be cause?

Stool varies: The lack of variation is rather uncommon and most people would be in more than 2 bristol categories every week with 3 t0 20% of US pop having irritable bowel. Change in hydration from weather or infection WILL change stool category; timing and size of meal may also. Blood from a visible hemorrhoid is-what-it-is, otherwise blood MIGHT be a reason for exam.

Mis-informed: "floating poop" is an exception, not the norm.  Stool floats in part when it contains a lot of air or gas. You are correct in that diet plays a considerable role in stool composition, but additional roles here are played by your bacterial flora, the effectiveness of food digestion and absorption, GI transit time, more.

my son is 2 and has been pooping green like spinach poo for the past week now. no change in diet. is that normal? should i be concerned?

Yes be concerned : Green stools could be blood  if it is more dark garden brownish 
safe a few diapers and consult your pediatrician.

Constipation: Ask her to visit the primary doctor. Couple of questions can clarify the issue. Certain less benign conditions may also be associated with constipation. There are treatments that could help.

Light color stool: Color of stool could vary depending on diet. Lighter color stools have been reported with very low carb diets. However, there are other medical conditions that may cause light color stools as well. Discuss with your doctor.

my poo is green, like a greyish green. it is also not supple stools but rather soft and mushy. what does this say about my diet?

Great diet: It means you are eating enough high fiber and fluids to make a nice soft quickly passing stool The darker and harder the stool, the less fiber and fluids in the diet. You are to be commended.  Fruits, vegetables, beans, legumes and nuts are all high in fiber- and don't forget the whole grains. They are all part of a well balanced diet. Keep it up. Congratuations

NO: its not normal! You should speak with your Primary Care Provider about evaluation and treatment for IBS D and the elimination of other reasons for frequent stools!

Blood in Stool: Simple hemoccult test in office after a rectal exam or stool test for blood will tell whether you really have blood in stool or not. If positive, it may be because of colon/rectal polyp, hemorrhoid etc, etc.

Fishy poop. : Could be either, really. We’d need to know more. Are your movements normal, or are you having diarrhea?  Any abdominal cramps?  Nausea?  Fever?  Have you recently eaten any undercooked or ill-prepared foods?  Have you significantly changed your diet recently?  Have you been around anyone sick?
