i am experiencing  soreness or burning inside of mouth and itchy rash on my leg, i believe i may have gotten poison ivy on my leg and scratched it before noticing what it was and maybe i got it on my mouth. anything i can do to help relieve my mouth?

Drug reaction?: Only thing I can think of affecting both the mouth and the skin would be a drug reaction. Was there a new drug introduced within 2 weeks prior to onset ? I suspect that they are unrelated since poison ivy does not  cause mouth problem unless you are chewing it . For sore mouth, try switching to Biotene toothpaste. For the skin, topical hydrocortisone . See allergist if not better.

diagnosed with poison ivy-face,legs,arms. on prednisone 20mg 1 daily for 2 weeks. no mention of tapering. don't want reactshould i taper the 2nd week?

Yes: If the rash has cleared, you may taper or even stop the Prednisone altogether. Given the short duration, tapering is not absolutely necessary.

i have what seems to be poison ivy/oak on the back of my leg. now the whole area has gotten swollen and extremely weepy. what's to be done?

OTC vs prescription: You can try some otc products such as calamide lotion which can help drying it out and reduces itching. Caladryl may do same. Hydrocortisone may help a bit, but this is quite weak. Oral Benadryl (diphenhydramine) may help with itching as well. If these don't help, u may need to see doc for stronger meds via prescriptions. why does my legs itch like poison ivy around my leg edema?

Stasis Dermatitis: When there is excessive swelling/edema in the lower legs from venous insufficiency (especially over time) the overlying skin becomes deprived of oxygen & nutrients and becomes damaged.  The skin develops an itchy rash & can be prone to ulcers. If this is what you have then wearing the correct compression stockings & treatment with topical steroids will help. See your doctor for evaluation.

See doctor: You will need to see a doctor who may prescribe some Prednisone pills or a cortisone injection for you.  In the meanwhile, try apply some otc Hydrocortisone cream 3 to 4 times daily. Be sure to clean out all items which might potentially been contaminated by poison oak or if you keep on getting new rashes. (shoes, floor mat, gear, clothing etc). Good luck.

Typically if it is: all over, you may need oral steroids. The way the resin from the plant spreads is actually through your nails, so cut them short and scrub them. Try soaking in tub with aluminum acetate to dry out blisters, apply topical steroid I am sure your doctor gave you after soaking 10 min at least twice aday and call doc for oral steroids if not getting better in next 24 hours.

Don't pop anything: you can just get scars. You can try aluminum acetate to dry out.

Thru resin: Poison ivy contains a resin called uroshiol which causes the allergic reaction upon contact with skin. This resin can be spread by one body part touching another and thru the clothes. Every body part in contact with poison ivy needs to be  washed and all clothing needs to be washed without touching the skin or sealed away in plastic bag until they can be washed.

See a dermatologist: Unless you have traveled someplace tropical the chances this is an insect infestation are low. However, until you have been examined "bugs" cannot be ruled out. I do recommend you be seen by a dermatologist.
