See below: IV fluids may dilute the blood, especially if the person was dehydrated before entering the hospital and that would lower the H&amp;H. Could the person be bleeding internally? Inflammation from pneumonia can suppress new blood formation.  Finally repeated blood tests may contribute to developing anemia, by draining blood.

Depends on the cause: Anemia is a low red blood cell (rbc) count; this can also be defined by a low hemoglobin level, which is the protein that carries oxygen in the rbc.  Anemia is either due to decreased production of rbcs (ie dietary) or increased destruction/loss (ie bleeding).  Many of these causes are treatable/curable, but require diagnosis first.

Boys and girls are equally likely to inherit the beta-s allele from an affected or carrier parent, and if they inherit a beta-s allele from each parent, they will have disease.

Yes possible: If you are severely dehydrated, you can have hemoconcentrated ( false elevation of hemoglobin)- thus it will give you false negative reading for anemia. Once you are hydrated well, you can then see the accurate level of your hemoglobin.

Iron Sulfate Tablets: Are the best source of iron to correct iron deficiency anemia.  They are not always tolerated well.  Try taking 300mg twice or three times a day.  Check with the doctor after a month to see if you need to continue.

Yes: Anemia means low red blood cell count, there are many causes for this, one being iron defiency...Others would include bone marrow suppression, increased destruction of red blood cells or other deficiencies in the building blocks of red blood cells (folate, vit b 12)... Etc.  Various blood test can help narrow the list, see your doc or a hematologist.

If the anemia: Is due to iron deficiency----O.K. If it is due to another cause it is not. Iron is potentially harmful and should be under doctor advice.
