: I addume the rest of the chest xray was normal and showed nothing like TB.  The adhesion is a streak of scar tissue at the base of the lung most likely left over from a bout of bronchopneumonia which may have been felt to be only a bronchial infection if you weren't very ill at the time.

i have pleurodiaphragmatic adhesions on the left. both of my costophrenic sulci are shallow and there is tenting on the left of my hemidiaphragm. i also have bilateral pleural thickening for a year now. what should i do?

: Have you ever had pleurisy or bronchopneumonia associated with pleurisy or tuberculosis? These adhesions are strands of fibrosis formed from prior inflammation of lungs &amp; pleural lining of the chest cavity.  I assume that tenting of the hemidiaphragm is a residual of the same prior inflammatory process.  Consulting a pulmonologist would be worthwhile and would give you more information about this.

Scar tissue: Adhesions are caused by inflammation which can occur after the "trauma" of surgery or an acute illness (appendicitis, pelvic inflammatory dz., etc). They can look like spider webs, rope, or can "glue" organs together. This compartmentalizes the abdomen, leading to the risk of bowel getting twisted on itself causing acute obstructions.  They may also entrap an organ such as the ovary, causing pain.
